Assam Tourism partners with Tata Group for tourism boost

The Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Group subsidiaries Amalgamated Plantations Private Limited (APPL) and the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) to enhance tourism in the state. The signing ceremony took place in Guwahati on Saturday.

As part of this MoU, a Taj Resort and Spa will be established with an investment of INR 120 crore. APPL, in collaboration with IHCL, will also develop modern hotel and hospitality infrastructure in Kaziranga. ATDC, representing the Government of Assam, will serve as the nodal agency for implementing the project.

Speaking at the event, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed gratitude to the Tata Group for partnering with the state government to promote eco-tourism. He highlighted that the initiative would significantly boost the state’s tourism sector. The project is expected to generate over 200 direct jobs and enhance the luxury hospitality experience in Kaziranga.

The Chief Minister described the day as a landmark for Assam, with two major projects taking shape: the groundbreaking ceremony for a semiconductor unit in Jagiroad and the MoU for a star hotel in Kaziranga. He believes these initiatives will be transformative for the state’s development.
