Germany’s inbound tourism sector recorded positive results during the first six months of 2026 despite a volatile global market environment. According to provisional figures from the Federal Statistical Office, international overnight stays increased by 1.6 per cent in June 2026 compared with June 2025. Overall, Germany registered 36.4 million international overnight stays during the first half of 2026, representing year-on-year growth of 0.5 per cent. The Singapore government will not intervene or exert political pressure on Singapore Airlines (SIA) over its investment decisions concerning Air India, Singapore Senior Minister K Shanmugam has said. Speaking on September 6, Shanmugam said SIA must independently evaluate any further investment in Air India based on its available resources and the Indian carrier’s prospects for long-term growth and profitability. “We should leave it to SIA to decide what it does with its investments,” he said, emphasising that government intervention in individual corporate investment decisions could compromise commercial discipline. The Ministry of Home Affairs has introduced an e-group visit visa (cruise) for foreign tourists arriving in India on cruise vessels operating on fixed and predetermined itineraries, in a move aimed at strengthening India’s position as a global cruise destination. Citizens of all 172 countries currently eligible for India’s e-tourist visa can apply under the new facility. The visa allows cruise passengers to enter through any of India’s 38 designated e-visa-enabled seaports. West Bengal has allocated around INR 500 crore for tourism in the 2026-27 budget, with plans to strengthen the state tourism development corporation and increase manpower, state leader Suvendu Adhikari announced. The government plans to renovate tourist lodges and guest houses while improving connectivity to key destinations across the state.
