TBM Staff - Mumbai The Indian Railways is set to ramp up the production of Vande Bharat Express trains as it is planning to roll out two to three semi-high speed indigenous trains every week by the end of the next financial year, reports Siddhi Garahwar for Times Now.
So far, eight Vande Bharat Express trains have been launched by the government on several inter-state routes, including one between Mumbai and Gandhinagar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also set to launch two new Vande Bharat trains – Mumbai-Solapur and Mumbai-Shirdi routes – on February 10.
The first Vande Bharat train was flagged off in 2019 on the New Delhi-Kanpur-Allahabad-Varanasi route. PM Modi launched the eighth Vande Bharat Express train connecting Secunderabad in Telangana and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on January 15.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently said that by end of the next financial year, Railways should be able to roll out about two or three new Vande Bharat trains every week. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had last year announced that 400 new Vande Bharat trains will be introduced in the next three years.
The Vande Bharat Express can run up to a maximum speed of 160 kmph and has travel classes like Shatabdi Train but with better facilities. In keeping with the Prime Minister’s vision of “Make in India”, the major systems of the train have been designed and built in India. (Source: Times Now)
