Projects under Swadesh Darshan scheme to revamp tourism in Puducherry

Swadesh Darshan Scheme, a Central Sector scheme of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Government of India, is a programme aimed to promote, develop and harness the potential of tourism in India. And it is coming to Puducherry. Several tourism projects were recently inaugurated in Puducherry that will ultimately give the city a new and improved look, reports TOI.

Keeping the active tourism activities in Puducherry in mind, it was decided to bring in these projects as the next step towards adding some more improved destinations and experiences to the already existing ones. After the completion of these new projects, more tourists are expected to visit Puducherry.
As per sources, several plans are in the pipeline to develop Puducherry as an iconic spiritual space. In fact, there are several spiritual tourism projects in line for Karaikal, Thirukanch and Yanam in Puducherry.

Plans are also afoot to develop Franco Tamil Villages in places like Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam. Also, towns like Dubrayapet, Arikamedu, Veerampatinam, Kalapet and Yanam will all come under these developmental projects. (Source: TOI)
