Mumbai Airport Reports 7% Growth in Q1 Passenger Traffic for FY2024-25

Mumbai International Airport reported over a 7% year-on-year increase in passenger traffic, totaling 13.46 million in the June quarter of the current fiscal year. Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) disclosed that the airport served 12.49 million passengers in the first quarter of FY 2023-24. According to MIAL, the June quarter saw a total of 13.4 million passengers at Chhatrapati Maharaj International Airport, comprising 3.7 million international travellers and 9.7 million domestic travellers. The quarter started with 4.3 million passengers in April, followed by 4.7 million in May and 4.39 million in June, reflecting a steady month-on-month growth. Additionally, the airport witnessed 59,775 domestic Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) and 21,519 international ATMs during the quarter, marking a rise of more than 4% compared to Q1FY 2023-24.

Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad have notably emerged as the top three domestic destinations for CSMIA with over 6.9 million passengers travelling through the airport. While Dubai, Singapore and London have continued to hold their status as the top three preferred international destinations, Dubai maintains it’s as the preferred international destination from CSMIA this quarter, with over 0.61 million passengers traveling to the city.

Impressively, the passenger traffic from the top five international destinations surpassed 1.5 million. Similarly, the passenger traffic from the top three domestic destinations exceeded 3.4 million.

IndiGo, Air India and Vistara emerged as the top airlines with the highest market share in the domestic as well as the international sector. IndiGo with more than 50% share among top airlines lead the domestic market, handling a total of 4.99 million passengers in the recent quarter.
