Dahanu Festival to be held from Feb 23-25

The Dahanu Festival 2.0 is set to take place at the Sea View Park at Dahanu Beach on Feb 23, 24 and 25 with free entry for all visitors. The festival aims to promote Dahanu as an off-beat yet easily accessible beach holiday destination and to showcase local art, culture, and entrepreneurship. The event will feature diverse attractions, including workshops on pottery and painting, art displays and exhibitions, water and aero sports, a sand art display, a helicopter air show, and horse beach racing. Additionally, off-site activities such as star gazing, farm visits, night camping, and explorations of fisherman’s villages will be available, ensuring a well-rounded and experience for all participants. The festival is expected to be a weekend getaway for tourists and locals alike, offering a truly enriching experience.

Dahanu, a coastal town with almost two thousand years of history, is situated in the north Konkan belt of the Maharashtra-Gujarat border in the Palghar district. The Iranian and Persian cultures add a touch of oomph to Dahanu. Dahanu is just 2.5 hours drive from Mumbai, Nashik, and Surat, with good connectivity options from all major regional cities. The town is already a popular choice for people looking for a weekend getaway from Mumbai, and the Dahanu Festival 2.0 aims to leverage the event to promote it nationally

Vaibhav Aware, Chief Officer of Dahanu Nagar Parishad, stated, “Dahanu has excellent potential for beach tourism, for people to explore local culture, art, and craft, and for people to indulge in water sports. Adventure enthusiasts can enjoy activities such as aero sports, water sports, and horse riding on the beach and visit fisherman’s villages to get a first-hand experience of the coastal rural lifestyle in Maharashtra.”

Furthermore, Abhijit Deshmukh, Tehsildar of Dahanu, said, “Dahanu is a wonderful place for tourists to visit and explore. Depending on one’s preference, it is perfect for a weekend visit or even a relaxed staycation. All amenities are available for people, and we have train and road connectivity to all big cities in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Delhi. We welcome visitors from all parts of the country, and even from other countries, to come and explore the wonderful ambience of this place during the Dahanu festival 2.0 and throughout the year.”

Visitors can reach the destination via train by getting off at Dahanu station or by driving down to Dahanu, which is entirely accessible by road. Various farm stays and local restaurants are open for booking, and one can make the bookings online right away to avoid a last-minute rush. The festival aims to promote local art culture and local entrepreneurship, and is organised collaboratively by the Government of Maharashtra, the local government bodies, and the Dahanu Municipal Council.
