Air India’s first A320Neo with new livery and cabins begins service

Air India’s first narrowbody aircraft with the airline’s new livery and completely revamped cabin interiors begins service today on the high-demand Delhi-Bengaluru route. This launch marks a significant step in Air India’s journey to enhance its offerings, aiming to deliver a world-class flying experience for its passengers.

The brand-new A320neo, with the registration mark VT-RTN, arrived in Delhi from Airbus Headquarters in Toulouse on July 7, 2024. The aircraft operated its inaugural commercial flight AI813 from Delhi to Bengaluru and is set to complete three additional flights on the same route throughout the day.

Air India’s new A320neo is configured with three cabins – Business, Premium Economy, and Economy – each designed to offer superior comfort and style. The Business class cabin features eight luxurious seats, each with a 40-inch seat pitch, 7-inch recline, leg rest, footrest, movable armrest, 4-way adjustable headrest, and an extendable tray table with a personal electronic device (PED) holder. The Premium Economy cabin boasts 24 extra legroom seats in a 3-3 configuration across four rows, offering 32 inches of seat pitch and 4 inches of recline, superior upholstery, and a PED holder. The Economy cabin includes 132 ergonomically designed seats in a 3-3 configuration, each with 28-29-inch seat pitch, 4-inch recline, a PED holder, and a coat hook.

All seats in the Premium Economy and Economy cabins come with USB charging ports, while the Business class seats additionally feature AC power outlets. This ensures that passengers can use their PEDs without worrying about battery life.

Deploying this aircraft on domestic routes highlights Air India’s dedication to upgrading its product and enhancing the passenger experience on domestic flights, mirroring the improvements seen on international routes. While the airline’s recently introduced Boeing 777s with upgraded cabin interiors and brand-new Airbus A350-900s are serving key routes to the United States, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom, the new A320neo will progressively expand its presence across more routes within India.
