On the second day of the Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) 2024 in Kolkata, the Bihar Tourism Development Corporation showcased a dynamic roadshow highlighting the rich history and culture of Bihar. “It’s my privilege to be part of TTF Kolkata, and this evening, we successfully conducted our roadshow. We connected with the right destination management companies, which was precisely what we were aiming for,” said Abhay Kumar Singh, IAS, Secretary of Tourism, Government of Bihar. “We showcased our offerings for various DMCs, and the feedback we’ve received has been incredible. Geographically, we are strategically positioned, with Uttar Pradesh to the west and West Bengal to the east, both states to which we are naturally linked. From an eastern perspective, Kolkata serves as the gateway to international tourism. Our goal is to develop the ecosystem further, catering to both international visitors and local tourists from Kolkata, encouraging them to explore Bihar as they travel westward or northward towards Nepal.”
The event was graced by Shri Abhay Kumar Singh, IAS, Secretary of Tourism, Government of Bihar; Shri Nand Kishore, IFS, MD of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation; and Shri Abhijit Kumar, GM, Bihar State Development Corporation.
The show began with an engaging discussion on Bihar’s rich heritage. The dignitaries highlighted major tourist attractions, areas dedicated to environmental and wildlife preservation, and various historical spots that remain largely unknown to the global audience. This was followed by an interactive session between the audience and the dignitaries, focusing on the future of the tourism industry in North India. They discussed how the region is emerging as a preferred destination for both domestic and international tourists and outlined revolutionary measures the state is taking to ensure socio-economic progress and educational development while benefiting the public and preserving the environment.
