Uber starts its services in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir

Today, Uber declared the commencement of its services in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, starting with Srinagar as its initial destination. The platform introduced both its well-received UberGo and the reliable outstation product Intercity in the valley. This expansion aligns with Uber’s dedication to providing convenient, affordable, and safe mobility choices to an increasing number of riders nationwide. The initiation of operations in Srinagar signifies a strategic move in that direction.

Uber’s introduction in Srinagar aligns with its broader expansion strategy in India, intending to grow its presence and diversify its product offerings in regional markets. Srinagar residents and visiting tourists now have the option to book Uber Go and Uber Intercity rides to meet their mobility requirements. Additionally, Intercity rides can be booked to popular tourist destinations around Srinagar, such as Gulmarg, Sonmarg, and Pahalgam.

For return journeys lasting up to 5 days, riders can now book Intercity trips, retaining their Uber and the driver while adding stops as needed. To facilitate journey planning, all Uber rides can be scheduled up to 90 days in advance, allowing riders to better organize their travel. This feature also benefits drivers, enabling them to anticipate future earnings and plan their expenses accordingly.

Shiva Shailendran, Head of Supply and Regional Operations commented, “The initiation of our services in Srinagar signifies our entry into the renowned tourism hub of Jammu & Kashmir. We are thrilled to cater to riders in one of India’s perennially beloved travel destinations. With the global ride-hailing app now accessible in Srinagar, both tourists and locals can easily secure a reliable ride in and around the city with just a few taps on the app. This service launch not only provides drivers with meaningful earning opportunities but also contributes to the economic growth of local communities.”

Uber strives to provide easy pick-ups, seamless rides, and digital payment options with the touch of a button across its diverse services. The city services from Uber aim to enhance earning opportunities for its community of drivers, fostering financial independence and contributing to the economic growth of communities.
