Singapore to host inaugural edition of IBTM Asia Pacific event

The IBTM Asia Pacific event will take place from 6th-7th September at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The event will be coupled with the first edition of Singapore MICE Forum (SMF) X IBTM APAC, in partnership with Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS). The forum will be held on 5th September.

The theme for IBTM Asia Pacific in 2022 is ‘Make Every Connection Count’, with the event creating the backdrop for international event professionals to come together and reconnect with key suppliers, destinations, venues and high-quality hosted buyers.

The launch of the inaugural IBTM Asia Pacific event signals the progressive return of international events to Singapore, and the resurgence of the MICE industry. According to the organisers, Singapore is a key MICE hub and ideal location for the event, because of its vibrant business culture, excellent infrastructure, and stellar track record in delivering similar high-quality events. Prior to the pandemic, The Singapore Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) Tourism Market reached USD 2,523.4 Million in 2018 and is expected to attain a market value of USD 5,214.9 Million by the end of 2027, registering a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.4%.

Speaking on this, IBTM Asia Pacific Event Manager, Michael Jones, said, “Now more than ever making every connection count is critical for event professionals as together we rebuild our industry. IBTM Asia Pacific 2022 will support the industry to do this through a programme of high-quality business meetings, education and networking that will give event professionals the opportunity to reconnect with the buyers and suppliers, as well as benefit from cutting edge education and we are excited to welcome you to Singapore this September.”

Richard Ireland, Acting President, Singapore Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (SACEOS), said, “We are proud and excited to partner with IBTM to host the inaugural SMF x IBTM Asia Pacific event in Singapore. The Covid-19 pandemic has made it abundantly clear that there is no better channel to do business, collaborate and educate than in person events. And the region’s MICE industry has been longing for the opportunity to be able to come together and reconnect with high quality suppliers, destinations, venues and buyers. ”

Poh Chi Chuan, Executive Director, Exhibitions & Conferences, Singapore Tourism Board (STB), said, “We value the partnership with IBTM and Singapore is proud to be host destination for the inaugural IBTM Asia Pacific. As the global MICE industry gears up for recovery, this event will serve as a critical platform for the industry to network, learn and form partnerships.”
