Shankh Air sets sights on Noida Airport as hub

Shankh Air, poised to become Uttar Pradesh’s first scheduled airline, is advancing its launch preparations and awaiting final approval from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Recently, Sharvan Kumar Vishwakarma, Chairman held a crucial meeting with Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu to discuss the airline’s strategic direction as a Full-Service Start-Up Airline.

Shankh Air plans to establish its main hub at the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, a significant move aimed at enhancing national and regional connectivity. The airline intends to operate Boeing 737-800NG aircraft, offering dual-class full-service amenities, and will initially connect Noida with airports like Bhogapuram, Pune International, and later Navi Mumbai International Airport.

The focus will be on connecting major cities within and beyond Uttar Pradesh, emphasising competitive pricing and exceptional customer service. Initial routes will include key destinations in the state such as Lucknow, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur, with operations slated to commence by the end of 2024.

Located near the planned YEIDA city, the Noida International Airport (IATA code: DXN) is India’s newest greenfield international airport, developed by Zurich International Airport.

Positioned strategically, it is set to function as a pivotal connection hub for the Delhi NCR region, offering convenient travel options for surrounding areas. Once operational, NIA aims to replicate the global aviation ecosystems found in cities such as New York, London, and Tokyo.
