Qatar Airways shifts Goa operations to new airport

Effective June 20, Qatar Airways will cease operations at Dabolim Airport (GOI) and move its services to North Goa’s Manohar International Airport (GOX), also known as MOPA. The last departure from Hamad International Airport (DOH) to GOI will be on June 19, 2024, and the final departure from GOI to DOH will be on June 20, 2024.
Qatar Airways’ Goa route will continue to be served with a direct daily flight operated on a mix of Airbus 320 and Boeing 787 aircraft. The airline is joining a list of carriers ready to move to GOX, including strategic partners IndiGo and Oman Air.
The transition from GOI to GOX promises a superior airport experience for travelers on Qatar Airways’ network to over 170 destinations. GOX’s expansive facilities are designed to reflect the exuberant nature of the local culture, blending contemporary and Goan architecture.

One of the key advantages of GOX is its cargo facilities, comprising 25,000 metric tonnes of temperature-controlled handling capacity. This has the potential to make GOX the ideal export hub in the region, further enhancing its appeal as a preferred airport for airlines and travelers alike.

The move by Qatar Airways underscores the growing importance of North Goa’s Manohar International Airport in the state’s aviation landscape. As more airlines shift their operations to GOX, travellers can expect a more seamless and enjoyable airport experience, with improved connectivity to destinations worldwide.
