Palace on Wheels now offers destination weddings option

The Rajasthan Tourism Department is spearheading novel initiatives to elevate the state as a premier destination for lavish weddings. In line with these endeavors, the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) has introduced the iconic Palace on Wheels train as a setting for destination weddings. This move amplifies Rajasthan’s appeal globally, drawing attention to local arts, cultures, and traditional Vedic nuptial rituals.

Rajasthan Deputy CM, Tourism Diya Kumari, expressed her enthusiasm about this venture, asserting that hosting destination weddings aboard the Palace on Wheels would significantly bolster tourism in Rajasthan and India. She further noted that this opulent train presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for couples to create cherished memories while simultaneously acting as ambassadors for Rajasthani and Indian traditions.

In parallel, Rajasthan Tourism continues to invest in improving essential amenities for tourists at various attractions throughout the state according to international standards. These upgrades aim to draw increasing numbers of foreign and domestic guests, capitalising on the state’s wealth of historical properties—approximately 75% of India’s total. Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, and other regions feature grand fortresses and palaces that are steadily gaining popularity as destinations for wedding celebrations.

Notably, the growing demand for destination weddings extends beyond national borders; prominent figures such as actors, business magnates, and even Hollywood stars are choosing Rajasthan as the backdrop for their matrimonial ceremonies.

When the state’s regal venues are transformed for these occasions, they imbue the proceedings with a fairy-tale charm that leaves indelible impressions upon the newlyweds.
