Oman to take centre stage as Host Country of ITB Berlin

In an unprecedented showcase of culture and beauty, the Sultanate of Oman is set to captivate the audience as the official host country for the opening ceremony of ITB Berlin 2024.

Under the theme “Beauty Has An Address,” the ceremony, scheduled for March 4, 2024, at the CityCube Berlin, promises a spectacular program featuring classical works and traditional Omani folk music.

Represented by H.E. Salim bin Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman, the event will witness the presence of esteemed political and tourism figures, including Kai Wegner, Governing Mayor of Berlin, and Julia Simpson, President and CEO of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).

The ceremony unfolds in three parts, each unveiling a different facet of Oman. The first part celebrates the natural beauty, traditions, and cultural heritage of the Sultanate. The second part showcases Oman’s progress, balancing modernization with the preservation of cultural identity, addressing aspects like religion, education, human rights, and art. The third part, titled ‘Vision 2040,’ outlines Oman’s aspirations, sustainable tourism development, and its global role.

Adding to the allure, Omani singers, folk groups, and the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra will present a vibrant program, blending traditional customs and melodies with global musical works. Notably, this marks the first visit of the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra to Germany in 17 years.

Post-ceremony, guests will be treated to an Omani reception at the CityCube Berlin, featuring culinary delights from the Sultanate. This grand inauguration sets the stage for ITB Berlin 2024, taking place from March 5 to March 7, accompanied by the ITB Berlin Convention, where industry leaders will convene to discuss the current and future challenges facing the travel and tourism sector.
