The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board is gearing up to host the fourth annual Skydiving Festival in Ujjain, aiming to boost adventure tourism in the state. This three-month event, set to run from November 9, 2024, to February 9, 2025, offers thrill-seekers a chance to leap from 10,000 feet and take in breathtaking views of the spiritual city. This festival aligns with the state’s vision, led by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, to position Madhya Pradesh as a top adventure tourism destination.
Principal Secretary of Tourism, Shri Sheo Shekhar Shukla, highlighted the success of previous editions and the growing interest in skydiving, prompting the Tourism Board to extend the festival for three months. The skydiving sessions will be held daily at the Datana airstrip in Ujjain from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with online bookings available at www.skyhighindia.com. Alongside skydiving, additional air-based adventure activities are planned for future events, supporting Ujjain’s transformation into an adventure hub.
Sky-high India, the festival organiser, will use a specially modified Cessna 182P aircraft, capable of carrying six people, though only two participants and two instructors will skydive at a time. Over 1,000 participants are expected to experience the thrill of skydiving during the festival, reinforcing the appeal of Ujjain for adventure enthusiasts nationwide.
Safety remains a top priority, with Sky-high India certified by both the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the United States Parachute Association (USPA). Participants will be guided by expert skydivers to ensure a secure and exhilarating experience, reinforcing Madhya Pradesh as a premier destination for adventure tourism.
