Lake District tops UK’s most instagrammable national parks

A recent study conducted by travel deal experts at Tripplo has crowned the Lake District as the most Instagram-worthy national park in the UK. This comprehensive analysis examined all 15 recognised national parks across the UK, tallying the number of times each location was tagged in public posts on Instagram.

The Lake District National Park emerged as the clear winner, boasting a remarkable total of 4,909,785 hashtagged posts. Situated in Cumbria in the Northwest of England, this UNESCO World Heritage Site spans an expansive 912 square miles and is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes. Notably, the hashtag #lakedistrict was the most commonly used, appearing in 4,340,437 posts, followed by #lakedistrictnationalpark with 569,348 posts.

Following closely behind, the Peak District National Park claimed the second spot with 2,866,251 hashtagged posts. Covering northern Derbyshire and parts of Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Staffordshire, and Yorkshire, the Peak District is celebrated for its scenic vistas and charming towns like Buxton and Bakewell.

Rounding out the top five Instagrammable national parks are Northumberland, Snowdonia (Eryri), and New Forest, with 1,826,099; 1,651,698; and 1,185,295 hashtagged posts respectively. From Northumberland’s abundance of castles to Snowdonia’s majestic mountain ranges, each park offers a unique and captivating backdrop for Instagram-worthy moments.

Axel Hernborg, founder, Tripplo, commented on the findings, noting the increasing popularity of exploring the UK countryside, especially as national parks offer free entry. With its picturesque villages and natural wonders, such as Lake Windermere and Aira Force Waterfall, the Lake District stands out as a quintessential destination for scenic getaways, attracting millions of visitors each year.
