Kunal Sampat of Skal International Bombay passes away

Skal India Congress postponed indefinitely

Kunal Sampat, Country Head of Visa Lounge, and Secretary General of Skal International Bombay – 144, passed away last evening in Mumbai after suffering a cardiac arrest. He was only 45. He is survived by his wife, and son.

Sampat was a pleasing personality and has over the years, many acquaintances and friends in the travel & tourism industry, not only in Mumbai, but across the country. Prior to joining Visa Lounge, he was the Country Head of MSC Cruises in India.

Immediately after the news of his death reached his colleagues and acquaintances, social media was flooded with images and condolences of people having known or travelled with Sampat over the years.

Fondly remembering Sampat, Sunil VA, President of Skal International Mumbai, said that they have been friends for many years, and because of their professional association they were regularly in touch, and met often at events and trade fairs. “He suffered a massive cardiac arrest; it is heart breaking to even think that he is no more.”

When he collapsed, Sampat, Sunil and key members of the team were in a meeting last evening finalising the programme of the Skal India Congress that was scheduled to begin in Mumbai tomorrow. However, due to the sudden demise of Sampat, Skal International Mumbai in a communication to its members last night informed about the indefinite postponement of the Skal India Congress. “Kunal’s loss will forever be felt by many of us who were touched by his kind spirit and affable nature,” the message reads.
