ITA Airways hands over “The Sustainability Manifesto” to Pope Francis

To welcome the Holy Father departing on his Apostolic Journey with the ITA Airways flight from Rome Fiumicino to Bahrain, Fabio Maria Lazzerini, CEO and General Manager of the Company, gave Pope Francis a canvas print with the symbolic illustration of the “Sustainability Manifesto”, which represents ITA Airways’ commitment to a more sustainable future.

Artwork of the appreciated Italian illustrator Emiliano Ponzi, this print features a child pointing at an ITA Airways aircraft flying: this tells of the dedication of the workers and the Company’s desire to grow, and to do it in harmony with the planet, as the blue livery blends with the blue of the sky.

For this important occasion, ITA Airways has organized a zero CO2 impact flight in terms of fuel consumption, implemented through a plan that includes the streamlining of operational procedures, a program to support the use of SAF and the reduction of the share of residual CO2 with a Gold Standard-certified emissions offset initiative.
