In a recent incident, a tourist family was allegedly attacked outside a hotel in Anjuna in Goa. Jatin Sharma and his family were the victims of this attack.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant immediately directed the police to take the harshest action against the perpetrators. The complainant, Sharma, expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and SP North Goa for their swift response and action in this incident. SP North Goa personally video-called the complainant and enquired about his health and ensured all cooperation.
Briefing the press Dr. Sawant directed for immediate suspension of the concerned police officer at fault. He also urged the tourist to abide by the law and order of the state for a safe tourism experience. Additionally, he stated that, for a fast process by the authority in such instances, the hotel management should not delay and contact the respective police station immediately.
Citing a recent example of the tourists who misbehaved with the management at the holiest church in Old Goa, CM urged the media and public to equally take cognizance and accountability to support Govt. of Goa and the Department of Tourism towards achieving a benchmark in safety and security for all.
Condemning the same and extending his support, Minister of Tourism, IT & EC, and Printing & Stationery, Rohan Khaunte said, “We are deeply concerned about the incident and strongly condemn the violent attack on tourists in our state. We will not tolerate such heinous acts and it’s absolutely unacceptable for anyone to take law into their own hands. Strictest action will be taken against the culprits”.
