Baccarat Hotel & Residences opens 2027

SH Hotels & Resorts, the hospitality management company founded by Barry Sternlicht, Chairman and CEO, Starwood Capital Group, has revealed its ambitious vision for redefining luxury and sophistication in the Maldives. Scheduled to debut in 2027, Baccarat Hotel & Residences Maldives aims to epitomise exclusivity and opulence. Spanning five interconnected islands across 111 acres in the South Malé Atoll, this extraordinary resort promises to set new standards of luxury in one of the world’s most coveted travel destinations.

Conveniently situated just a short 30-minute boat ride from Malé’s Velana International Airport, the resort will be seamlessly integrated with its own shallow-water lagoon and reef system. Featuring over 50 hotel villas and 53 private residences available for purchase, guests will indulge in a remarkable fusion of tranquility and refinement.

The architectural brilliance of HKS, a globally renowned firm, combined with the exquisite interiors by 1508 London, known for their dedication to crafting unique, lavish, and innovative designs, ensures that Baccarat Hotel & Residences Maldives will effortlessly blend contemporary elegance with tropical allure.

“We are thrilled to introduce Baccarat Hotel & Residences Maldives, which merges the timeless elegance and modern sophistication of the House of Baccarat, the legendary 260-year-old crystal brand, with the Maldives, a destination synonymous with paradise,” says Sternlicht. “In creating this extraordinary retreat, our goal is not only to provide a place to stay but to curate an experience that celebrates the essence of luxury living against the breathtaking backdrop of the Maldives.”

“Our debut in the Maldives signifies an exciting milestone for the Baccarat brand,” says Raul Leal, CEO of SH Hotels & Resorts, the parent company of Baccarat Hotels & Resorts. “We are shaping a new identity in an already remarkable region, and we are confident that this property will redefine ultimate luxury in the Maldives.”

“It is with great pride that we announce our partnership with Baccarat Hotels, a revered name synonymous with luxury for over two and a half centuries, to bring our vision to life in the Maldives,” says Tristan Parker, Director of Development, MDC Investments LLC, a sister company of Madevco Holdings Limited (ADGM). “This collaboration marks an exciting chapter as we join the brand’s legacy, introducing the inaugural Baccarat branded hotel and residences in the Asia Pacific region.”
