SriLankan Airlines adds new Bengaluru-Colombo flights

SriLankan Airlines has introduced a new daytime flight route between Bangalore and Colombo, effective from October 31, 2024. This addition boosts the total weekly flights between the two cities to ten, providing enhanced convenience for Indian travellers heading to Sri Lanka for short escapes or business engagements. With departures every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, this new service allows passengers to arrive in Colombo by mid-morning, offering more daylight hours to explore and enjoy the island.

The new schedule specifically caters to those seeking a flexible travel experience for weekend getaways or “workations.” Flight UL 1174 leaves Bangalore at 9:40 AM, reaching Colombo by 11:10 AM, and the return flight UL 1173 departs Colombo at 7:20 AM, landing back in Bangalore by 8:40 AM. This timing allows travellers to optimize their stay, enjoy a packed itinerary, and return in time for the start of the workweek. SriLankan Airlines aims to provide a seamless travel option that makes the most of a quick weekend trip to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka remains a top choice for Indian holidaymakers and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) travellers due to its cultural proximity, scenic beauty, and warm hospitality. Indian visitors can explore a wide array of experiences on the island, from the sandy beaches in the south and the spiritual kovils in the north to the lush, cool highlands of the central province. The new flight schedule allows Indian tourists to enjoy Sri Lanka’s diverse landscapes, adventure, and wellness offerings within a few short days.

In addition to convenience, travelers on these flights can benefit from SriLankan Airlines’ frequent flyer program, FlySmiLes, earning points on both legs of the journey. Passengers will also be treated to authentic Indian cuisine and the signature warmth of Sri Lankan hospitality. With this route addition, SriLankan Airlines reaffirms its commitment to the Indian market, which remains the only country with nine cities served by the airline. SriLankan operates close to 90 weekly flights to India, further strengthening the travel and cultural ties between the two nations.
