What’s New in Philadelphia: New Attractions and Major Updates Coming Your Way

Philadelphia is buzzing with excitement for the upcoming travel season, highlighted by a host of new additions. The city will debut a variety of new attractions and updates promising an unforgettable experience for every visitor.

FIFA 2026 Awaits!
In the summer of 2022, FIFA selected Philadelphia as one of the 11 cities in the United States to host World Cup matches in 2026. Now, all eyes are on Philadelphia as the city prepares to bring the world’s largest sporting event to the country’s most passionate fanbase. The City of Philadelphia and Lincoln Financial Field will host six matches in the summer of 2026. The matches schedule includes five group stage matches and one round of 16 matches in June and July. To build momentum, FIFA, PHL Sports, and Philadelphia Soccer 2026 launched Philadelphia’s brand and logo in the spring of 2023. Philadelphia’s logo includes fragmented design elements as a homage to the Liberty Bell’s crack and the Philadelphia Art Museum’s steps as part of the “We Are 26” brand. The 2026 FIFA World Cup™ promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime event in Philadelphia. As you plan your trip, prepare to experience world-class soccer in a city known for its rich history, vibrant culture, and walkable streets, offering countless attractions and activities for an unforgettable visit.

The Most Walkable City
For the second consecutive year, Philadelphia has been voted the “Most Walkable City To Visit” in the 2024 USA TODAY 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards contest. Walkability is a key factor for travellers when choosing a destination and offers significant benefits for city residents as well, including cost savings and greater engagement with local communities. In Philadelphia, visitors can explore the city’s neighbourhoods on foot, enjoying sights ranging from public art installations and premier cultural institutions to vibrant green spaces and historic landmarks. The walkable streets of Philadelphia connect international travellers to an array of hotels, restaurants, and attractions, making Philadelphia a standout destination for visitors seeking an engaging and accessible travel experience.

Cruise Classics
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) will commence cruise operations out of the Port of Philadelphia in 2026 marking an exciting development for the city, providing travellers with new opportunities right from Philadelphia’s waterfront. NCL will dock its Norwegian Jewel which has the capacity to accommodate 2,300 guests in Philadelphia offering cruises to various destinations. The Summer 2026 plan for NCL cruises will offer seven-to-nine-day voyages to Bermuda while for Fall 2026, Norwegian Jewel will sail 10- and 11-day voyages to Canada and New England. This addition of cruises departing from the Port of Philadelphia is another sign of the momentum that Philadelphia will emerge as a trending destination in 2026. Visitors will be coming to Philadelphia for several reasons, including the America’s 250th Anniversary, the MLB All-Star Game, FIFA World Cup 2026TM and now potentially as an extended multi-day cruise experience added to their Philadelphia itineraries.

A New Visitor’s Guide For All
Adding to the convenience of visitors, the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) is releasing of its updated International Visitors Guide, a comprehensive guide, designed to enhance the experience of international travellers, reflecting Philadelphia’s commitment to welcoming visitors from around the globe.
