State-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) announced on April 16 that it has signed an agreement with Noida International Airport to construct a pipeline for supplying jet fuel.
The agreement, signed on February 20, involves building a dedicated aviation turbine fuel (ATF) pipeline from BPCL’s Piyala terminal to the airport’s tank farm. This pipeline aims to ensure efficient fuel supply and lower carbon emissions by eliminating the need for tanker trucks.
According to the statement, the dedicated ATF pipeline will stretch over 34 kilometers, with 1.2 kilometers running within the airport premises. Once operational, the pipeline will function on a common/contract carrier basis, facilitating seamless fuel transportation to the airport.
“Reflecting Noida International Airport’s commitment to environmental responsibility, this common-use fuel transportation pipeline will simplify fuel receipt operations and reduce emissions by removing the need for tanker trucks,” BPCL stated.
BPCL’s Director (Marketing), Sukhmal Jain, noted that BPCL has been at the forefront of establishing ATF facilities at airports and supporting infrastructure since the aviation industry’s inception in India.
