Two international flights are set to operate from the Vizag Airport

Starting February 9, Vizag Airport will introduce a new service to Hyderabad by Air India Express. Additionally, AirAsia will commence a direct weekly thrice flight to Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) from April 26, and a direct flight to Thailand (Bangkok) by the same airline is scheduled to start from April 9.

During a joint media conference held on Thursday evening, representatives from the A.P. Air Travellers Association (APATA) and Tours and Travels Association of Andhra (TTAA) revealed that post-COVID-19, the city’s only international flight was Scoot Airlines, operating four times a week. With the introduction of two new international flights, Vizag will now have an international flight departing every day of the week.

Moreover, as Air India Express prepares to commence operations from Vizag to Hyderabad, the city’s airport is poised for increased activity in the near future.

Raja Ram, the Director in-charge of the airport, announced during the media conference that the check-in counters at the airport have been expanded to 30, and existing facilities have been upgraded. He mentioned that the Digi Yatra app would be accessible at the airport starting from April. Additionally, he assured that the re-carpeting work on the runway is on track for completion by the end of March.

Present at the conference were APATA Vice-presidents O. Naresh Kumar and D.S. Varma, along with President K.K. Kumar Raja and TTAA President K. Vijay Mohan.
