During the Adani Group’s annual general meeting (AGM), Chairman Gautam Adani provided an update on the Navi Mumbai International Airport, stating that it is on schedule. Adani mentioned that the airport is preparing for operational readiness and airport transition by December 2024.
The Navi Mumbai International Airport is being developed as an alternative to the overcrowded Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. It will be located in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and is estimated to cost around Rs 16,700 crore.
Spanning over 1,160 acres, the airport will be constructed in four phases, with the first two phases scheduled for completion by December 2024. The design of the Navi Mumbai airport draws inspiration from India’s national flower, the lotus. The project is a joint venture between the Adani Group and the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO).
