Vietnam’s Alma Resort focusing on large Indian groups with direct flights from Vietjet

The Vietnam-based Alma Resort is focusing on the India market as in the post pandemic scenario with Indian travellers choosing Vietnam as a desirable destination has continued to increase.

Talking exclusively to TravelBiz Monitor during his recent visit to India, Herbert Laubichler-Pichler, Managing Director, Alma Resort, said that various reports suggest that Indian travellers are ready to explore new markets. “Moreover, Vietjet offers direct flights from India to Vietnam. It is a short-haul Destination, and not expensive,” he said. The resort was opened in December 2019.

Talking about trends Pichler said that Indians travel as a big group and with families. “Our resort has all the facilities to cater to MICE and weddings,” he said. According to him, currently, on average the travellers from India stay 4-5 days in the resort.

As far as target cities are concerned, Alma Resort is focusing on Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. “In the initial phase our focus will remain on Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Because these cities have direct flights to Vietnam. Later on we will target Tier-II and III cities,” pointed out Pichler.

The resort offers a wide variety of F&B choices, besides this it has 12 swimming pools,water parks, science museums, clean sand beaches etc. When asked to comment to describe its USP, Pichler promptly replied it is space. “Our biggest USP is space. The size of our smallest room is 70 sq m,” he said.

On engagement with travel trade, he said that first they will approach B2B and will also work with trade media and influencers. “We will organise Fam trips and work with Indiva Marketing as they are in the Indian market for a long time,” said Pichler.
