Uttarakhand shines in the Indian Responsible Tourism Award 2023

Uttarakhand’s tourism had a significant impact on the recent Indian Responsible Tourism Award 2023, which was held in Ooty on March 17th . During the occasion, various state-run hotels, guesthouses, and homestays received honours in several responsible tourism categories. The honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Shri MK Stalin, presented the awards.

At the awards ceremony, several homestays in the state received recognition for their sustainable leadership. In recent years, Uttarakhand’s homestays have offered tourists from all over the nation and overseas a comfortable place to stay in addition to introducing them to the state’s rich cultural heritage, captivating them with its delectable cuisine, and inspiring them to return time and time again. For being innovators in providing tourist facilities, H2O House in Chamba and The Retreat in Bhimtal were awarded the Gold Medal and the Silver Medal, respectively. For its exceptional homestay services, the Once To Watch Guesthouse in Isoti, Pauri Garhwal, has also received recognition.

The Ular Guest House in Lansdowne won the Gold Medal in the Guest House and BnB category, and the Aashraya on the Ganges in Rishikesh won in the Premium Hotel category. Lokesh Ohri, a cultural activist, novelist, and historian, also received the Sustainability Champions Pathfinders Award for his pioneering role in the conservation of the Doon Valley’s natural and cultural heritage.
