Rewa will be the sixth airport in Madhya Pradesh

PM to virtually inaugurate MP’s Rewa Airport on Oct 21

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the new airport at Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa on October 21, an official said on Saturday.

As per a release issued by the state government, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla reviewed the preparations for the inauguration on Friday.

Union and state ministers, including Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, will be present at the inauguration programme in Rewa on October 21, it stated.

During the review meeting, Shukla gave instructions to officials and took stock of the stage and other arrangements at the venue.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granted an operating licence to the Rewa airport in the Vindhya region last month, making it the sixth airport in the state, including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Khajuraho.

Madhya Pradesh Government Expands Pilgrimage Scheme to Include State’s Religious Sites

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed for the expansion of the government’s pilgrimage scheme for senior citizens and inclusion of the state’s religious places in it.

The Mukhyamantri Tirth Darshan Yojana, under which people visit various pilgrimage sites in the country, was started in 2012 by the then BJP government headed by Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

In the last 12 years, nearly eight lakh people from MP have benefited from the scheme, which includes 41 single and 9 pair (two places in one trip) pilgrimage sites of the country, officials told the CM in a meeting.

Yadav said due to the geographical structure of Madhya Pradesh, people are unable to see many pilgrimage sites and remain unaware of the special features of their own state.

The scheme should be expanded for senior citizens to visit famous pilgrimage sites of the country as well as prominent religious places in MP, he said.

The CM directed officials concerned to include the state’s religious places under the scheme. The Religious Trusts and Endowments Department should prepare an action plan after conducting necessary studies, he said.

While the elderly travellers will get an opportunity to visit famous places of their own state, it will also be important from the point of view of MP’s economy, Yadav said.

Madhya Pradesh tourism board launches PM Shri Paryatan Vayu Sewa scheme

In a significant move to boost tourism in the state, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board is launching the PM Shri Paryatan Vayu Sewa scheme to connect important tourist destinations via air. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the service on June 13, offering a 50% discount for the first month.

The air connectivity will be improved through the PM Shri Paryatan Vayu Sewa, which will commence operations from June 13, connecting eight cities in Madhya Pradesh: Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Rewa, Ujjain, Gwalior, Singrauli, and Khajuraho. The service will also start from Gwalior on June 15 and then from Ujjain on June 16.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will inaugurate the PM Shri air tourism service at Bhopal Airport, with the inaugural flight following the route Bhopal-Jabalpur-Rewa-Singrauli. To facilitate online ticket booking, the Flyola website has been developed and was launched by the chief minister on Tuesday. Booking counters have also been set up at the airports in Indore, Bhopal, and Jabalpur to make it convenient for tourists to book their tickets.

Principal Secretary (Tourism) Sheo Shekhar Shukla emphasised that the tourism department is constantly innovating to enhance connectivity between the state’s tourist destinations and improve tourism facilities. He stated, “PM Shri Tourism Air Service will prove to be a milestone for the tourism sector of the state. It is beneficial for the tourism sector as well as industry, trade, health, education, and the promotion of culture and art.”

Currently, the PM Shri Tourism Air Service connects eight cities in Madhya Pradesh, but there are plans to expand the service to more cities in the near future. This expansion will further improve connectivity and make it easier for tourists to explore the various attractions that Madhya Pradesh has to offer, including the rich cultural heritage of the state.
