NIMA-KTA discuss joint promotion of Krabi as MICE destination in India

The Network of Indian MICE Agents (NIMA) and Krabi Tourism Association (KTA), responsible to promote Krabi as a sought after tourism destination, recently held joint discussion at the KTA head office on ways and means to promote the destination in the Indian market, especially eyeing MICE and corporate markets.

The meeting was attended by Gajesh Girdhar, Chairman Emeritus, NIMA; KTA President Sasithorn Kittidhrakul and other members of KTA. Krabi is keen to garner a bigger slice of the Indian outbound and be as popular with Indian travellers as some of the other destinations within Thailand, such as Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket. KTA will be in India next week conducting road show aimed at showcasing its destination to the Indian market.

Commenting on the joint discussion, Girdhar said, “On behalf of NIMA it was discussed to promote Krabi as a MICE destination among Indian corporates and Indian MICE fraternity. NIMA and KTA agreed to work together and bring Krabi as parallel to other popular MICE destinations like Pattaya, Bangkok and Phuket in Thailand.”

Asked about the value that NIMA could bring to the table, Girdhar said, “NIMA will promote Krabi as an upcoming MICE destination among members, corporates and MICE agents. We suggested them to workout possible benefits which KTA and Krabi city council can offer to MICE groups.”

He further said that Krabi is a perfect MICE destination with proper infrastructure that’s required for MICE groups. Budget to luxury hotels, excursions, Indian restaurants which can cater to large groups, proximity to Phuket International Airport which is just two and half hours drive, make Krabi more perfect to be considered as a MICE destination, he added.
