Indian Railways has announced plans to introduce Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains, offering passengers a more comfortable and efficient travel experience. The first route to be serviced by this new train is likely to be between Secunderabad and Pune.
Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains are designed to provide increased comfort and speed in long-distance travel. These trains are being manufactured by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) and are expected to be introduced later this year.
The sleeper coaches will feature modern facilities, including inter-communicative automatic doors, better soundproofing, sensor-based lighting, and a small pantry in each coach. Additionally, they will have bunk beds designed for comfort, special berths for the disabled, and toilets equipped with anti-spill washbasins.
The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train will run on the same track as the Shatabdi Express, covering the distance from Secunderabad to Pune in approximately 7 hours and 25 minutes, an hour faster than the current Shatabdi Express. The exact schedule and stops for the new service have not been finalised yet, but it is expected to have 16 coaches.
The introduction of Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains is part of Indian Railways’ efforts to increase the number of Vande Bharat Express trains to 200. The sleeper coaches are designed to cater to the growing demand for comfortable and efficient travel options in the country.
