Uttar Pradesh has secured investment proposals worth INR 1 trillion in the hospitality sector over the past two years. This surge is fueling the development of hotels, resorts, guesthouses, wellness centers, and homestays across all 75 districts, enhancing the state’s tourism infrastructure.
Key religious and tourist destinations such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Agra, Kanpur, and Noida are leading this expansion. Ayodhya is set to witness the addition of 10 new hotels, while Varanasi will see 12 new properties. The consecration of the Lord Ram temple in 2024, which drew 16.4 million pilgrims, has significantly boosted hospitality demand.
This growth aligns with the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Policy 2022, which focuses on strengthening tourism infrastructure through private-sector collaboration. The successful Global Investors Summit in 2023 further attracted major hospitality brands looking to expand their presence in the state.
Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), under the Taj Group, has committed to opening a luxury Taj property in Ayodhya in collaboration with the Solitaire Group. With a rising influx of pilgrims and tourists, the state’s hospitality sector is set for unprecedented expansion in the coming years.
