Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun a two-day visit to Gujarat to commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, which marks the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s Iron Man. This year’s celebration holds special significance as it marks Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary. The Prime Minister is leading the grand event at the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Kevadia. The day is dedicated to honoring Patel’s legacy of national unity and reminding citizens of the values he stood for. Modi’s visit highlights how Patel’s vision continues to inspire India’s progress and strengthen its democratic foundation.
During his visit, PM Modi will launch and inaugurate development projects worth INR 1,140 crore. These initiatives focus on boosting infrastructure, improving tourism facilities, and promoting environmental sustainability around the Statue of Unity. According to Telangana Today, these projects will transform Ekta Nagar into a model of integrated growth and a major global tourist destination. The Prime Minister’s participation in these projects reflects his ongoing commitment to building a strong, united, and modern India rooted in cultural pride.
The celebrations at Ekta Nagar began with PM Modi offering floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity. He also administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge, reaffirming India’s unity and diversity. The highlight of the event is the grand Ekta Diwas Parade, featuring contingents from India’s top security forces—BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB—along with state police units. To commemorate the special occasion, PM Modi released a INR 150 commemorative coin and a postage stamp dedicated to Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary, celebrating his unmatched contribution to India’s nation-building.
Apart from tributes, PM Modi’s visit focuses on developmental initiatives designed to uplift the region and empower local communities. Among the key projects are the expansion of the Birsa Munda Tribal University in Rajpipla, focusing on higher education and tribal empowerment. The Garudeshwar Hospitality District (Phase-1) will create local employment and enhance tourism. Projects like Vaman Vriksha Vatika and the Satpuda Protection Wall aim to conserve biodiversity, while the Narmada Ghat Extension, Kaushalya Path, and Smart Bus Stops will enhance accessibility and visitor convenience.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for several new attractions around the Statue of Unity, including the Museum of Royal Kingdoms of India, which will highlight India’s royal heritage. A sports complex and Veer Balak Udyan will promote youth engagement, while a scenic walkway connecting Ekta Dwar to Shreshtha Bharat Bhavan will enhance visitor experiences. A Dam Replica Fountain will also be introduced as a major attraction, symbolizing India’s engineering and ecological achievements.
Through these initiatives, PM Modi aims to transform Ekta Nagar into one of India’s most sustainable and inspirational destinations. His visit not only celebrates Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th anniversary but also reinforces India’s unity, progress, and respect for heritage. The blend of cultural reverence, environmental care, and developmental vision underlines Patel’s enduring influence and Modi’s mission to continue his legacy of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”
