Direct flight services between Navi Mumbai and Sindhudurg’s Chipi Airport will commence from August 15, reducing travel time between the two destinations to around one hour.
According to Minister Nitesh Rane, Fly91 will be the first airline to operate the route, with IndiGo expected to introduce services at a later stage.
The new air link is expected to significantly improve connectivity for Konkan residents while benefiting tourists, businesses and investors travelling to the region.
The launch also comes ahead of the Ganesh festival, when travel demand to the Konkan region typically increases.
Chipi Airport currently offers flight services to Pune, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, and the addition of Navi Mumbai is expected to further strengthen its domestic network.
The new route is expected to boost regional tourism, improve accessibility and support the economic development of Sindhudurg and the wider Konkan region.
