The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has sanctioned projects worth ₹146.50 crore for Telangana under its Central Sector Scheme PRASHAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual, Heritage Augmentation Drive), aimed at strengthening pilgrimage and heritage tourism infrastructure across the state.
According to information shared by Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in a written reply to a question raised by Congress MP Anil Kumar Yadav in the Rajya Sabha, four projects have been approved under the scheme.
The development of the Jogulamba Devi Temple in Alampur has been completed at a cost of ₹33.07 crore. Meanwhile, work on the development of pilgrimage and heritage tourism infrastructure at the Ramappa Temple in Mulugu district is currently underway. For this project, the Ministry has sanctioned ₹62 crore, of which ₹32.73 crore has already been released.
The development of pilgrimage infrastructure at Bhadrachalam in the Bhadradri-Kothagudem district is also in progress. The project has received a sanction of ₹41.38 crore, with ₹8.43 crore released so far.
However, for the development of basic amenities at the Sri Renuka Yellamma Temple, the Ministry has sanctioned ₹4.22 crore, but no funds have been released to date, the Minister informed Parliament.
The PRASHAD scheme focuses on the holistic development of pilgrimage and heritage destinations to enhance the spiritual experience of visitors while improving tourism infrastructure, accessibility and amenities.
