Joy Island Maldives has announced the introduction of its new seaplane transfer service. This addition allows guests to begin their island escape with a sense of wonder and serenity, soaring above the dazzling blues of the Indian Ocean before landing directly at the island’s doorstep.
Operated by Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA), the world’s largest seaplane operator, the new service offers a seamless and scenic 10-minute flight connecting Joy Island directly to Velana International Airport in Malé. With this enhancement, the resort continues to strengthen its promise of delivering effortless travel and elevated comfort for guests from around the world.
Seaplane operations are conducted exclusively during daylight hours to ensure a safe and scenic journey. Guests arriving in Malé after 15:30 hrs are encouraged to choose the resort’s speedboat transfer option for the most convenient arrival experience. Similarly, departures from Joy Island to Velana International Airport operate between 06:00 hrs and 16:00 hrs, providing smooth connectivity for international flights departing after 09:00 hrs. For guests with earlier international flights, the speedboat transfer remains the recommended option to ensure timely connections.
Joy Island and Trans Maldivian Airways note that while every effort is made to ensure punctual and comfortable travel, unforeseen weather conditions or operational factors may occasionally affect flight schedules. The resort and the airline will not be held responsible for missed international connections arising from such circumstances. Seaplane fares are also subject to adjustment in accordance with airline fuel surcharge revisions.
The launch of seaplane transfers marks yet another milestone in Joy Island’s journey to enhance the guest experience through innovation, convenience, and a touch of magic.
