The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality group, has announced the signing of a new Taj-branded resort in Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan. This greenfield project marks another milestone in IHCL’s continued expansion across India’s wildlife and eco-tourism destinations. Located near Ranthambore National Park, the resort aims to combine luxury with sustainability, offering travellers a refined yet nature-integrated experience.
IHCL’s Managing Director and CEO, Puneet Chhatwal, highlighted the company’s deep connection with Rajasthan’s tourism legacy. “Having pioneered tourism in Rajasthan, IHCL has showcased the region’s cultural richness globally. With improved connectivity to Sawai Madhopur, we see great potential for hospitality growth,” he said. The new resort, developed in partnership with Vanivinayak Hospitality LLP, reflects IHCL’s commitment to sustainable luxury and local engagement.
The upcoming 75-key resort will be an eco-sensitive retreat, blending seamlessly with its natural surroundings. It will feature suites and villas with private courtyards and plunge pools, curated to reflect Rajasthan’s rustic charm and modern comfort. Dining options will include an all-day restaurant, a specialty restaurant, a bar, and a safari lounge. Leisure and wellness amenities will feature a heated pool, fitness centre, Taj’s signature J Wellness Circle spa, and Niu & Nau salon, creating a holistic guest experience.
In alignment with IHCL’s ESG+ framework, Paathya, the resort will adopt solar-powered systems, rainwater harvesting, and locally sourced materials. This approach supports responsible tourism, ensuring minimal environmental impact while uplifting the local community. Such initiatives further reinforce Taj’s role as a pioneer in sustainable hospitality across India’s natural landscapes.
Vanivinayak Hospitality LLP partners, Vibhishek Singh and Abhishek Pal Singh, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that it “marks a milestone in promoting sustainable tourism in Sawai Madhopur.” Their vision aligns with IHCL’s goal of nurturing luxury experiences that respect ecological balance and community participation.
Sawai Madhopur, often called the gateway to Ranthambore National Park, is home to India’s iconic tigers, leopards, and rich biodiversity. With this new Taj resort, IHCL continues to blend conservation, culture, and comfort, enhancing Rajasthan’s global appeal as a destination for luxury wildlife tourism.
