Akasa Air has announced that its Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer, Praveen Iyer, will step down to begin the next chapter of his professional journey. He will work closely with the leadership team to ensure a smooth and structured transition through April 30, 2026. The move marks a significant leadership change for the fast-growing Indian airline as it prepares for its next phase of expansion.
Founder and CEO Vinay Dube acknowledged Praveen’s pivotal role in shaping Akasa’s commercial vision and overall growth strategy. He credited Iyer with building a strong and resilient commercial organisation, nurturing future leaders, and establishing key partnerships that supported network expansion and revenue performance. Dube expressed gratitude for his clarity of thought and long-term perspective during the airline’s formative years.
Akasa Air also announced that Co-Founder and Chief Information Officer Anand Srinivasan will assume the role of Chief Commercial Officer. Dube highlighted Anand’s deep expertise in commercial and revenue algorithms, particularly his contribution to building the airline’s revenue management platform. His technology-first approach, combined with commercial acumen, is expected to support Akasa as it scales operations and navigates increasing complexity.
Anand Srinivasan brings over 25 years of experience across aviation and technology markets in India and internationally. Under his leadership, Akasa’s technology team has developed robust, scalable, and secure platforms that support the airline’s rapid growth. These include advanced revenue systems, operational technology, digital products, and data analytics capabilities, forming a strong backbone for future expansion.
Speaking about his new role, Anand said he looks forward to building on the airline’s solid commercial foundation and delivering sustained growth, stronger customer value, and long-term competitiveness. He emphasised pride in the industry-first technology solutions developed since Akasa’s inception and expressed confidence in the airline’s future trajectory.
Reflecting on his tenure, Praveen Iyer described building Akasa Air as a defining and fulfilling journey. He expressed pride in the team’s achievements within a short span and confidence in the airline’s continued success. As part of the leadership reshuffle, Akasa has initiated a search for a new Chief Information Officer. In the interim, the IT function will report to CFO Ankur Goel, ensuring continuity and strengthening the airline’s technological foundation.
