Air India has officially launched direct flights between Delhi and Manila, becoming the first Indian airline to connect India and the Philippines. The inaugural flight took off earlier this month from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, marking a new chapter in India–Philippines connectivity. This milestone coincides with the Philippines’ visa-free entry policy for Indian tourists, allowing stays of up to 14 days. The initiative is expected to enhance tourism, business travel, and bilateral trade, benefiting both nations’ economies.
The airline operates five weekly flights — on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays — using the Airbus A321LR aircraft. Passengers can choose from Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins, ensuring comfort and flexibility. The new route caters to the growing demand from both leisure and corporate travellers. It also provides Filipino travellers with convenient connections to Europe and North America via Delhi. With this addition, Air India now serves eight destinations in seven Southeast Asian countries, expanding its regional presence.
The launch comes at a time when India’s outbound tourism is booming and Southeast Asia remains a top choice for Indian travellers. The Philippines, with its mix of heritage, beaches, and adventure, is poised to become a major attraction. The visa-free policy and direct connectivity make it a cost-effective and time-saving option for Indian tourists seeking new experiences.
Top attractions for Indian visitors include:
Intramuros, Manila – A historic walled city showcasing Spanish colonial heritage through landmarks like Fort Santiago and San Agustin Church.
Palawan – Famous for island hopping, the Puerto Princesa Underground River, and pristine beaches.
Apo Reef & Moalboal – Ideal for diving and snorkelling, offering coral reefs and unique marine life.
Banaue Rice Terraces – A UNESCO World Heritage Site, often called the Eighth Wonder of the World.
Boracay’s White Beach – Renowned for its crystal-clear waters, soft white sand, and relaxed island vibe.
The Delhi–Manila direct service marks a significant step toward strengthening India’s aviation network in Asia, promising smoother travel, greater cultural exchange, and stronger economic ties between the two nations.
