Air India Express has introduced new uniforms for cabin crew and frontline employees across its network from September 1, marking another step in the airline’s evolving brand identity and guest experience transformation.
The refreshed uniforms extend the airline’s Tales of India initiative beyond aircraft and into guest interactions. The designs draw inspiration from traditional Indian textiles and crafts, including Tamil Nadu’s Kanjeevaram, Himachal Pradesh’s Pattu, Gujarat’s Patola, Assam’s Gamosa and Madhya Pradesh’s Bagh.
Contemporary silhouettes inspired by the traditional kurti are paired with tailored jackets, scarves and pocket squares, combining Indian cultural influences with modern styling. The designs aim to reflect the connections Air India Express creates across India’s diverse regions and communities.
The uniforms feature the airline’s Xpress Blue palette with signature Xpress Orange accents, creating a consistent visual identity across aircraft, airports and onboard services. They have been designed with frontline operational requirements in mind, balancing comfort, functionality and durability.
The project was led in-house by Air India Express designer Pooja Krishnan, who designed uniforms for female cabin crew, airport services, aviation security and flight operations personnel. The men’s cabin crew uniform was developed in collaboration with Trent Limited.
Made using banana crepe fabric, the uniforms are designed to provide breathability, durability and comfortable movement while maintaining an elegant appearance. Air India Express currently operates more than 500 daily flights across 48 domestic and 16 international destinations with a fleet of over 100 aircraft.
