The Government of Sri Lankan has considered extending the validity period of the visas of Ukrainian travellers currently in the country due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, reports Colombo Page.
Sri Lankan Minister of Tourism Prasanna Ranatunga stated that he will make submissions in this regard at the Cabinet meeting to be held today. The Foreign Ministry is already in discussions with the Department of Immigration and Emigration in this regard, he said.
Visas are issued for a minimum of one month. The Minister further stated that the necessary steps will be taken to take into consideration the expiration date of the visas of Ukrainians staying in Sri Lanka.
The number of Ukrainian tourists currently staying in the country is close to 4,000. The Tourism Development Authority stated that 11,500 Russian tourists are staying in Sri Lanka. (Source: Colombo Page)
