Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in India, recently concluded two tourism roadshows in Hyderabad and Chennai as part of its strategy to attract more Indian travellers and deepen engagement with the Indian travel trade.
The B2B events witnessed participation from more than 70 travel agents and tour operators across both cities. The roadshows aimed to strengthen tourism partnerships, increase destination awareness, and tap into India’s rapidly growing outbound travel market, which currently records around 33 million departures annually.
The initiative followed Uzbekistan’s participation in major travel trade exhibitions including OTM Mumbai 2026 and SATTE 2026 earlier this year, highlighting the destination’s long-term commitment to the Indian market.
Sardor Mirzayusupovich Rustambaev attended both events and highlighted Uzbekistan’s Silk Road heritage, cultural richness, and historical ties with India. He described India as a key strategic market for Uzbekistan’s tourism growth and invited Indian travellers to explore the country’s blend of heritage and modern experiences.
The roadshows showcased Uzbekistan’s major tourism offerings, including its UNESCO-listed heritage cities, architecture, cultural experiences, and opportunities in leisure and MICE tourism segments.
Uzbekistan Airways participated as the partner airline and highlighted its expanding connectivity with India. The carrier recently entered a codeshare agreement with Air India, strengthening links between Indian cities and Tashkent through routes such as Delhi–Tashkent, Mumbai–Tashkent, and seasonal Goa–Tashkent services.
Uzbekistan has also launched a direct route between New Delhi and Namangan, improving access to the culturally significant Fergana Valley. Through the partnership, passengers from cities including Hyderabad and Chennai can access seamless onward connections via Air India and Uzbekistan Airways.
As part of its expansion plans, Uzbekistan Tourism aims to attract 100,000 Indian visitors, targeting a 30% increase over the previous year. The destination is positioning itself as an accessible and culturally immersive choice for Indian travellers seeking international experiences rooted in history and heritage.
