Surat Airport has commenced biometric data collection for passengers registered under the Fast Track Immigration–Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP), officials have confirmed. The initiative is aimed at simplifying and speeding up immigration procedures for eligible international travellers.
The programme is open to Indian citizens as well as Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders, allowing them to benefit from quicker immigration clearance and reduced waiting times at international airports. The move is expected to significantly improve the overall travel experience for frequent flyers.
To facilitate the process, biometric enrollment counters have been set up at both the arrival and departure areas of Surat Airport. Passengers who have already completed their passport and personal detail registration on the Union Home Ministry’s FTI-TTP portal can complete their biometric enrollment at the airport.
Once the biometric registration is completed, travellers will be eligible to use automated e-gates at international airports. These e-gates enable seamless and faster immigration processing without the need for manual checks at conventional counters.
Officials highlighted that the FTI-TTP scheme is designed exclusively for international travellers, unlike Digi Yatra, which caters to domestic air passengers. The programme is part of the government’s broader effort to modernise airport infrastructure and enhance passenger convenience.
With the introduction of biometric enrollment for FTI-TTP at Surat Airport, international travellers from the region are expected to benefit from smoother departures and arrivals, aligning the airport with global best practices in immigration facilitation.
