Indian Railways is modernising key railway stations to provide passengers with state-of-the-art facilities and a seamless travel experience. According to Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, CPRO of Northeast Frontier Railway, redevelopment is already underway, with stations like Haiborgaon, Narengi, Jagiroad, and Chaparmukh nearing completion.
The revamped stations will feature lifts, escalators, spacious parking, improved entry and exit points, and dedicated pathways for smooth passenger movement. Special emphasis is being placed on accessibility, ensuring seamless travel for people with disabilities. Enhanced signage, better lighting, and cleaner facilities will further improve commuter comfort.
The project comes with significant investments—Jagiroad Station is receiving INR 31.18 crore, Narengi INR 30.95 crore, Chaparmukh INR 31.87 crore, and Haiborgaon INR 14.94 crore. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 92 stations in the Northeast Frontier Railway zone are set for transformation.
With these upgrades, Indian Railways aims to create a world-class transportation network, making travel more efficient and passenger-friendly while boosting regional infrastructure and connectivity.
