Commercial flight operations at the Noida International Airport are expected to begin within the next 45 to 60 days, according to Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu. This development comes shortly after the airport’s Phase 1 inauguration, marking a major step toward operational readiness.
The minister clarified that flight services can only commence once the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security grants the mandatory Airport Security Programme (ASP) approval. This document outlines critical security protocols, including access control, passenger screening, and emergency response systems.
Without ASP clearance, authorities cannot issue Airport Entry Passes (AEP), which are essential for airport staff and stakeholders to begin operations. Officials emphasised that these approvals are crucial to ensure safety and regulatory compliance before opening the airport to the public.
Initially, the airport will operate with a single runway, handling domestic and cargo flights. International operations will be introduced at a later stage as infrastructure and regulatory clearances expand.
Local officials, including representatives from Noida International Airport Limited, have also confirmed that preparations are progressing quickly. The timeline indicates that passengers could start using the airport within the next two months if approvals are completed on schedule.
Once operational, the airport is expected to significantly boost connectivity and economic activity in the region. It will serve as a major aviation hub for North India, easing congestion at existing airports and supporting future growth in passenger and cargo traffic.
