NITI Aayog, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, organised a national workshop and launched the report “Unlocking Growth in Tourism and Hospitality Sector”. The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders and stakeholders to discuss ways to strengthen India’s tourism and hospitality ecosystem.
Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat highlighted tourism’s growing role in India’s economic development. He stressed the need to create an enabling environment that encourages investment, expands tourism infrastructure, increases accommodation capacity and improves the ease of doing business.
Rajiv Gauba emphasised that tourism and hospitality are major drivers of employment, entrepreneurship and regional development. He noted that investment in the sector depends heavily on predictable costs, timely approvals and a business-friendly regulatory environment.
The newly launched report outlines practical recommendations aimed at attracting greater investment, enhancing India’s global competitiveness and strengthening the overall tourism and hospitality ecosystem. It also focuses on improving policies that support sustainable long-term growth.
The recommendations seek to simplify business processes, accelerate tourism infrastructure projects and encourage private sector participation. These measures are expected to boost tourism-related investments while creating new employment opportunities across the country.
The initiative supports the Government of India’s vision of Viksit Bharat, positioning tourism as a key contributor to economic growth, regional development and improved global competitiveness.
