In the early hours of today, India conducted military strikes near its border with Pakistan, prompting the temporary closure of several key airports in the northern region of the country.
Authorities confirmed that Srinagar airport was shut for all flight operations. Low visibility on flight tracking websites further revealed an unusual airspace situation—no commercial flights were visible north of New Delhi at the time.
According to a post by SpiceJet on X (formerly Twitter), other airports that were temporarily closed include:
- Leh
- Jammu
- Amritsar
- Dharamshala
Air India also issued a statement saying it had cancelled flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot until 12 p.m. on Wednesday.
IndiGo noted that its operations in and out of Bikaner were impacted as well.
Airlines used social media to alert passengers about the evolving situation, warning of possible delays or cancellations. Travelers were urged to check their flight status regularly and adjust their travel plans accordingly.
The Indian government has not yet issued an official statement on the broader implications of the military action or how long air travel disruptions are expected to last.
