Jungle Camps India (JCI) is seeing rising interest in astro tourism and night safaris across its forest resorts in Pench, Kanha, and Tadoba. With clear skies, minimal light pollution, and serene natural surroundings, these destinations are proving ideal for astronomy enthusiasts and wildlife lovers alike. The Pench Tiger Reserve, India’s first certified Dark Sky Park, has become a hotspot for stargazing and astronomy sessions, with nearly 40% of Pench Jungle Camp visitors in FY 2024–25 engaging in such activities.
Guests are treated to experiences such as astrophotography, guided star walks, and campfire astronomy sessions that blend scientific curiosity with immersive wilderness experiences. Along with the skies, the forests come alive after dark. Night safaris conducted by JCI in Kanha, Pench, and Tadoba provide a deeper glimpse into nocturnal wildlife activity—featuring encounters with species like leopards, hyenas, sloth bears, and wild dogs. These safaris are carefully managed to minimise disturbance to animals while offering guests a unique sensory experience of the forest.
According to Gajendra Singh Rathore, Managing Director of JCI, travelers are increasingly drawn to experiences that allow for quiet reflection and connection with nature. “Our guests seek a slower, more mindful journey—one where open skies and night sounds replace screens and city noise,” he said. He emphasised that JCI’s astro tourism and night safari offerings align perfectly with the shift toward deeper, more purposeful travel experiences.
Globally, the astro tourism market is projected to grow from USD 250 million in 2023 to USD 400 million by 2030. In India, noctourism is gaining momentum, with over half of travellers in 2025 prioritising dark-sky destinations. JCI, headquartered in Delhi, currently operates award-winning eco-stays in key tiger reserves and manages 87 rooms across varied accommodations. With a strong focus on conservation and authentic wilderness travel, the company is actively exploring expansion within the core eco-hospitality and adventure segments.
