In a tribute to the enduring legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has unveiled a special 5-day heritage tour aboard the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train. Titled the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Circuit, this journey promises an immersive exploration of key landmarks tied to the Maratha warrior’s life, commencing June 9, 2025.
The tour starts and concludes at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai, with additional boarding options at Dadar and Thane. Travellers will visit historically significant locations such as Raigad Fort, Shivneri Fort (Shivaji’s birthplace), Lal Mahal, Pratapgarh, and Panhala Fort, each woven into the narrative of Shivaji’s valor and leadership. The itinerary also includes spiritual stops at Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga and Mahalakshmi Temple in Kolhapur.
Available in three travel categories—Economy (INR 13,155), Comfort (INR 19,840), and Superior (INR 27,365)—the tour includes hotel stays, vegetarian meals, guided sightseeing, and monument entry fees. Passengers will also experience the ropeway at Raigad, further enhancing the historical journey.
Announced earlier this month by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, this initiative reflects a renewed push to promote the cultural richness of Maharashtra.
