India has made it mandatory for all international travellers arriving in the country to submit an online health self-declaration form through the newly launched Air Suvidha 2.0 platform amid growing concerns over the Ebola outbreak in Africa.
Launched on June 25 by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the contactless digital platform aims to strengthen health surveillance at airports and improve the monitoring of passengers entering the country.
The requirement applies to all international arrivals, regardless of the country of departure, including thousands of Indian travellers flying from the UAE and other destinations with direct air connectivity to India.
The move comes after the World Health Organization classified the ongoing Ebola outbreak in Central Africa as a global health emergency, prompting several countries to tighten health screening and monitoring measures.
Under the new system, passengers must complete the online health self-declaration form before boarding their flights to India, enabling authorities to assess potential health risks and streamline contact tracing if required.
Air Suvidha 2.0 is part of India’s broader efforts to strengthen public health preparedness, enhance digital surveillance capabilities and ensure the safety of passengers amid evolving global health concerns.
