The Haj Committee of India has officially opened the online application window for Haj 2026, according to a statement from the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Applicants have until July 31, 2025 to complete and submit their forms. The government has urged all aspirants to read the guidelines and undertakings thoroughly before applying.
To be eligible, applicants must have a machine-readable Indian International Passport issued on or before the application deadline and valid at least till December 31, 2026. The Haj Committee also emphasised that applications should only be made after serious consideration, as cancellations — barring cases of death or grave medical emergencies — will invite penalties and possible financial losses.
This annual call marks yet another opportunity for thousands of Indian Muslims to undertake the sacred pilgrimage to Mecca, with support and facilitation from the Government of India. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to making the process seamless and accessible for all pilgrims.
Last week, Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju hailed Haj 2025 as the most efficiently conducted pilgrimage yet, with logistical improvements and significantly lower pilgrim fatalities — 64 deaths in 2025 compared to over 200 in 2024.
The 2026 application drive aims to build on that success, ensuring safer and better-managed experiences for pilgrims. For many, it is not just a journey — it’s the fulfillment of a lifelong spiritual dream.
